Verse by verse study with me
In this post I will go over John 1:1-5 out of the King James Version. We will read verse by verse and slowly to see what is being said .
"In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
We see in this verse that the word "Word" is capitalized and John does this to emphasize that the "Word" is Jesus. Jesus was in the beginning, He was with God, and he was God.
"The same was in the beginning with God." John 1:2 KJV
In this verse John states again that same was in the beginning (pre-incarnate Jesus). He mentions that he was with God, but the verse before shows that he is God. Jesus he is one part of the triune God. Each part fully God and they make up the one God.
"All things were created by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. " John 1:3 KJV
This states that nothing could be made without God. He is the Creator and without a creator nothing could be created. Life didn't come from nothingness it came from a Creator and that Creator is God Almighty.
"In him was life; and the life was the light of men." John 1:4 KJV
"In him was life..." so without Jesus there isn't life. We aren't truly living without Jesus. "...and the life was the light of men." So we aren't truly living without him. Which means are dead and in darkness. We aren't physically dead but we are spiritually dead without Jesus, because he is life. And if we are spiritually dead then we don't have his light shining in us, and we are in darkness. We need his light to give us life.
"And the light shineth in the darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."
John 1:5 KJV
The light shines in the darkness but the darkness comprehends it not. If we look at this world it is darkness it is full of sin and bondage, but Jesus is the answer he is the light. He can cast out the darkness, break the chains of the people who are bound and heal the broken hearted. This world doesn't understand that it needs a Savior. Most people don't want to realize that they are lost or bound. They don't want saved. The thing is we are all in need of a Savior. We have all fell short, and that is why Jesus came and died on the cross because he doesn't want anyone to parish. However, he also wont force you to accept his precious gift. You have to choose for yourself to live in the darkness of this world or to accept his light.
Hope this short verse by verse study helped you in some way.
God Bless you all!
Time, where does it go? There are 24 hours in a day, yet it seems to go by so much faster, as a parent, it seems to go by 10x faster, and as a stay at home mom, it seems to be 100x that. How do we spend our time? Do we spend it wisely? Do we spend enough time with God? Or is it our phones that take up most of our day? If you look around at people, one thing you will notice is everyone (or at least almost everyone) is on their phones. Not just adults, most children spend their day on YouTube, Snap Chat, Instagram, Twitter, etc. and hardly any time with our creator God. God supposed to be first but most people's "First" is their phone. I am guilty of this crime of robbery, robbing the Lord of his time. God should be on our mind when we first wake up and he should be on our mind when we lay down to bed at night. He is after all the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, so why shouldn't we start our day with him and end it with him also. He deserves our time, without Him we wouldn't even exist. He Saved us from sin (If we accept it) so why don't we honor that by giving him some of our time. Jesus loves you! Let's all wake up from this delusion of technological distractions and focus on our Savior.
